South Sudan’s dire humanitarian situation has been exacerbated by poor road network in many parts of the county, the humanitarian affairs minister said.
Minister Hussein Mar speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Sunday admitted that many South Sudanese are suffering from hunger, yet they cannot receive food aid due to bad roads.
Mar said the delivery of food aid is hampered by the poor road network, while calling on humanitarian aid agencies to help airlift the food to worst hit areas.
He noted that stocks of food in Renk County could have been delivered to the needy in different parts of the country, but now it is impossible to do the deliveries due to bad roads.
He further called on the World Food Program (WFP) to assist the government with planes that can drop food aid to needy communities across South Sudan.
