Poor maternal healthcare in Yida refugee camp

Dozens of pregnant Nuba women in Yida camp in South Sudan’s Unity state face poor maternal healthcare.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, several women complained about shortages of medical staff, medicine, and health facilities.

"The majority of pregnant women were suffering from diseases including malaria and diarrhea," one woman said.

They called on health organizations to provide good health services, medicine, and well-trained doctors.

Rising prices in Kadugli

Citizens in the neighboring Nuba Mountains said that prices are rising at Kadugli market.

A small bushel of sorghum rose from 10 SDG to 16 SDG, a pound of cooking oil is 10 SDG, while a small bushel of onion increased to 8 SDG from 3 SGD, one resident told Radio Tamazuj.

He said that a can of sauce rose from 1 SDG to 2 SGD. a heap of guava fruits is for 10 SDG and okra costs 7 SDG.

Transportation costs from Kadugli to El Obeid towns increased to 75 SDG from 43 SDG, while a ticket from Kadugli to Dilling rose to 40 SDG.
