Heavy rains in Khartoum have reportedly left pools of stagnant water in roads across the Sudanese capital, leaving local residents unhappy particularly affecting Suk Al Arabi.

Several local residents said the rain water had mixed with sewage causing bad smells in residential areas.

A source told Radio Tamazuj that the Ministry of Education intends to postpone this year’s schooling until the rainy season ends as students face difficulties going to schools.

A weather forecast showed that there will be heavy rains this season which could affect thousands of families and destroy houses.

Meanwhile, citizens in Damazin in Blue Nile state slammed the local authorities for doing nothing as this year’s rainy season approaches.

Some residents said their areas are affected by the rains every year due to poor drainage, forcing them to relocate to higher ground.
