The situation of the citizens who are currently living in the rebel-held areas in Heiban Locality in Sudan’s South Kordofan State are reportedly deteriorating in terms of health and food security.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, the Heiban Locality Executive Director Abdullah Kajo stated the citizens are suffering from the lack of food and an acute shortage of medicines and other essential services.
He noted the local residents are also still complaining of the insecurity as a result continuous aerial bombardment by the Sudanese Air Force in the area.
“Several citizens have now resorted to taking herbs and traditional medications like from trees, which may lead to health complications,” says the local administrator.
From February until March, the Sudanese warplanes have been dropping bombs on the populated areas within the locality, he explained, saying the bombings damaged property and burned farmlands in the area.
Refugees in White Nile
In neighbouring White Nile State, refugees who arrived from South Sudan sought refuge in Kilo Ashara area. They are grumbling about the shortage of shelter amid high temperatures in the state these days.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Sunday, several families living inside the camp said the new arrivals they did receive their tents since they reached the camp.
They noted they are currently living in an open area under the scorching heat of the sun. They called for Sudan’s Humanitarian Aid Commission and other humanitarian organizations to provide them with shelter.
