South Sudan’s National Alliance of Political Parties say they have not received an invitation to the IGAD talks in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

IGAD special envoy for South Sudan Ismail Wais extended an invitation to the leadership of the parties to the South Sudan peace agreement to take stock of the implementation of the peace agreement, challenges and way forward on 2nd and 3rd of May 2019.

But Kornelio Kon Ngu, leader of the National Alliance of Political Parties told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that he did not receive an invitation to attend the talks.

Kon said after consulting the peace monitor RJMEC, he was informed that three people whose names were not disclosed had been invited to represent the alliance at the talks.

Kon, who is also a deputy minister in Juba, said such a move is detrimental to the implementation of the agreement which is already in a critical condition.

He warned that if such a move is condoned, a repeat of 2016 is imminent.
