Western Equatoria State Minister of Health Nagomoro Bridget has revealed that the ongoing polio campaign will not cover three counties for in the state due to insecurity in those areas.

SPLA soldiers and civilians clashed previously in parts of the state prompting many civilians to flee to the bush in fear.

Bridget told Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday that the children’s polio vaccination campaign will only cover seven counties but the three counties of greater Mundri will be later covered when calm returns in those counties.

The polio vaccination campaign kicked off on Tuesday until Friday this week after some delays owing to technical issues. The minister stressed that there are no polio cases recorded in the state but they carry out the campaign anyway as a precaution.

The polio vaccination campaign is being supported by four to five partners including WHO, UNICEF and others beside the WES Ministry of Health.
