A policeman was found dead and six others injured after a confrontation between police officers and members of an armed group in Assalaya locality in the north of Ad Daein town in Sudan’s East Darfur State.
Local residents told Radio Tamazuj on Sunday that the police clashed with a group of criminals on motorcycles.
“The government has realized that most of the crimes here are committed by people who own motorcycles, that’s why it has instructed the police to pursue them. So this was one of the campaigns carried out against them at Donki Kamal,” said a resident.
The police were acting in line with a new policy to crackdown on motorists in a bid to reduce crimes. The residents called on the state government to provide security.
