A police man was killed and another injured on Wednesday in an attack by gunmen on a police station in al-Rodom locality in Sudan’s South Darfur state.

Local sources told Radio Tamazuj that the group of gunmen who carried out the attack are suspected to be relatives of a person who was jailed by the police for alleged robbery.

The relatives of the jailed man had demanded police release him but they refused so they attacked the police station.

“A suspect of stealing was arrested and taken to police station after that his relatives came and attacked the police station killing one police officer and injured another one and escaped away,” said one area resident.

The source said the incident caused fear among the residents. The police did not manage to arrest any of the attackers
