The inspector of police in Yei River County has appealed to community leaders to help the institution in reducing crimes in the county.

Of late, Yei River County has experienced a surge in criminal gangs commonly known as niggers who rape, rob, and attack people with machetes raising concern among the population in Yei.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Thursday, Fisal John, the inspector of police in Yei River County, said they are working to curb the negative actions of youth gangs and that timely reporting of the crimes will help the police reduce crime in the community

“As the inspector of police in Yei River County, I want to tell our civilians that in days to come, we are going to work so hard on the issue of the youth gangs. According to our observation, niggers are thieves who do rob people because we have some here in custody with us already,” he said. “So, what I can tell the community chiefs and the youth is that for us to safeguard our nation and the community and for us to be happy in Yei, they should report the youth who are doing bad things. Please bring the information to the police for investigation because such characters will bring a bad image to the community.”

John added: “The criminals have shifted to the areas of Jansuk and Luparate and they move with pangas and other harmful objects which is a threat to the community.”

The police chief further urged area chiefs to help the county in reducing crimes by reporting any unlawful incidents.

“Chiefs should report crimes to the police because the reason you are chosen as a chief is to help the people and the county. If you have criminal groups in your area, please report to us because if you do not, then you are an accomplice in crimes in your area,” John said. “So, my message to community leaders is to please help us reduce or end crimes. If you have a boy or a girl who is doing an unlawful activity, please bring the report to us because we have many ways of how to handle such criminals.”

The increase in youth gangs and their antisocial behavior has created unease in Yei River County of late.
