Police seize lion cubs from smugglers’ house in Khartoum

Sudan’s Directorate of Anti-Smuggling at the Customs Service has arrested men accused of smuggling lion cubs after receiving information about their activities at Baluth area in Blue Nile State.

After a follow-up, a house was raided in which lion cubs were found in one of the neighbourhoods in Khartoum State.

Maj. Gen. Bashir El Tahir Bashir, Director at the Directorate of Anti-Smuggling, told the Sudanese News Agency (SUNA) that the anti-smuggling forces will remain vigilant for whatever threatens the national economy.

He further said the forces are deployed along the border in order to detect all types of smuggling and reduce the smugglers’ activities through information-gathering and serious follow-up.
