More than 10 police and national security officers have been arrested following last week’s clashes between the two units in Tonj State, a local official said.

More than 10 police and national security officers have been arrested following last week’s clashes between the two units in Tonj State, a local official said.

The incident left four people, including two women injured in Tonj town.

The State Information Minister, William Wuol Mayom, Radio Tamazuj on Monday that they arrested seven  security and six police officers pending investigations.

The arrests, he said, were made on the recommendations from an investigation committee that was send from the capital, Juba.

The government in Juba sent a committee headed by the director of operations at the Internal Security Service to investigate the cause of fighting between national security forces and members of the police unit.

Mayom said the investigation committee further recommended that the accused persons should be transferred from Tonj State to Wau Central Prison.
