Police have released 22 youth they had arrested from Tirangore village in Torit East County of Torit state on Friday last week, after a group of eight men beat to death Erodiano Choilang, a prison warder.
The killing of the prison warder took place on May 4.
The state police spokesperson, Lt. Col. Mathew Ochan Jacob told reporters that the 22 youth were arrested for further investigations after unclear reports were got from three men previously arrested.
He admitted that the security organs indeed raided the youth with their cattle as part of the investigation that was being conducted.
He said, “We just gathered information and found out that the real suspects were not there. They hid themselves in the bush and now we know those involved in the incident through those people”.
Among the 22 youth arrested, none of the suspects was found leading to their release on Sunday, according to the police officer.
Meanwhile, the Torit East County commissioner, Toby Majak Thomas said the youth were held with their animals for them to reveal other suspects.
He said the wanted suspects were not among the 22 arrested youth.
“Of course they did not know who they were, that’s why all of them were brought, but all were released with all their cows,” said Majak.
