Police are investigating the recent attack on the residence of Lieutenant General Malual Ayom Dor at Hai Nyakuron West in Juba, a senior official said.

Gunmen on Sunday killed General Ayom’s security guard, Garang Deng, who was posted outside the residence.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, Interior Minister Michael Chiangjiek said inquiries into the incident are ongoing. “I don’t want to give details now because investigations are underway. We are working on the issue and we will give more details after investigations,” he said.

Minister Chiangjiek vowed to tackle insecurity caused by criminals in Juba, saying organized forces will work as a team to crack down on criminal acts.

Chiangjiek further said police have recently arrested 7 criminals in the capital Juba. “The group was causing insecurity in Juba, so they will be taken to court to face the law,” he said.

The minister urged citizens to cooperate with the police to ensure that criminals are arrested.
