A South Sudanese police officer was arrested for allegedly killing his wife when she did not cook for their children in Yambio town in Gbudue State, a senior police officer said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, Gen. James Monday Enoka, Police Commissioner in Yambio town, said the wife died after the husband beat her for failing to cook food for their children.
“The man that killed his wife claims that he went to work in the morning and after he returned home, he found the wife was drunk and she was also smoking cigarettes, but some of their children were crying because they didn’t eat, because the mother did not cook since morning,” said Enoka.
“So, the husband said he decided to beat his wife and before taking the wife to the hospital, she died on her way,” he added.
The police commissioner pointed out that the police officer has already been arrested for investigations before being taken to court.
Separately, Monday Enoka said a boda-boda driver was found dead in an area located eight kilometres away from Yambio town on Tuesday.
Enoka pointed out that a suspect has been arrested by police authorities in connection with the killing of the boda-boda driver, saying investigations are underway.
