Fear gripped residents of Kuajok town in Warrap State after a police officer committed suicide on Tuesday.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Wednesday, Akol Thony, the Secretary General of the defunct Gogrial State said the police officer, identified as Nyuol Wol, shot himself dead at his house.

“Yesterday [Tuesday], a police officer committed suicide in his house. There were also shootings to scare some criminals being chased, but it created a bit of fear among residents,” he explained.

Akol said the exact cause that compelled Wol to take such an extreme step will be investigated.

No suicide note was found at the scene of the incident, he added.
