Police are investigating after the shooting of one SPLA soldier at Yei joint operations base yesterday.

The deceased was among a group of soldiers who arrived recently from Juba to monitor the security situation in the area.

Yei's CID Director Captain Garang Macok explained, “The incident happened in the operation base of the soldiers. We heard a sound of a rifle and when we arrived at the place of the incident, we found that somebody was killed. We have arrested and put the suspect into custody and investigation is going on to find out the motive on the killing.

The security situation at the joint operation base has returned to normal.

Meanwhile, the shooting suspended traffic flow along the Yei-Mahad road for some hours as soldiers could be seen moving on the street to contain the situation.
