An investigation into the killing of a health worker in Duk County of Jonglei State is underway, authorities and police in the state capital, Bor town have said.

On July 27, a clinical officer at Pajut Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC) identified as Mabior Manyok Ader, was beaten to death in his residence. The reason for the killing remains unclear.

The state police commissioner, Joseph Mayen Akon, told Radio Tamazuj that two suspects in connection to the incident were arrested last week.

“Those two suspects are believed to have been involved in plotting the murder of the deceased.  We arrested them so that they will be able to produce the murderers. Up to now, the reasons for the killing are not very clear. But the killing was premeditated,” he said.

He pointed out that manhunts for more suspects are ongoing and that those arrested will be arraigned before a court as soon as the investigations finish.

Peter Mathiang, the county health director, confirmed the incident without providing details, saying investigations are still ongoing.
