Ten men are being held in connection with an attempted robbery in the Gumbo residential area of Juba, Radio Miraya reports.
Citing the state police commissioner, the UN radio station says that police stopped the suspects before they could carry out the robbery.
Central Equatoria State Police Commissioner Maj. General Henry Danima said that a Gumbo resident tipped off the police that a group of people with machetes, knives and clubs were trying to rob him.
“He called our emergency police team. When they arrived there, the criminals saw the car and they ran away but he identified some of them. They were pursued and in the house they were searched. Others were found still on the way running,” he said.
The police commissioner stated that a case has been opened against the arrested men.
