Major General Bior Ajoh Bior, one of South Sudan’s police generals, was killed on Sunday evening in Juba, police said.
“Major General Bior Ajoh was shot and killed by a sergeant in the army called Andrew Apukic. General Bior was on a non-active list,” Major General Daniel Justin, South Sudan Police Spokesman, told Radio Tamazuj on Monday.
The police spokesman said investigations into the killing of the senior police general are underway, pointed out that the motive behind the incident remains unclear.
“The prime suspect came in plain cloth and shot General Bior while playing cards. After he shot and killed General Bior, he tried to escape but was apprehended and beaten up by people who were around. He fell unconscious and later died,” he explained.
Justin urged the public to remain patient as investigations into the killing of the police general continue.
“We always tell people to wait for police statements and avoid social media. As our investigations finish, we will inform the public,” Justin stressed.
Bior Keec, a relative of the slain police general, said: “As a family, we can confirm that General Bior is dead. We are now at the police station. Investigations are ongoing so we cannot give further details now.”
