Police arrest two murder suspects in Bor

Two people have been arrested in connection to the killings of two men in separate incidents in Bor County of Jonglei State, police have said.

Early this week, the police reported the murders of two men in separate incidents on the outskirts of Bor town—in the Wuncuei area, a man was reported to have accidentally opened fire on another man at a tea joint, while in the other incident, a man was beaten up to death in the Malualchaat area.

Joseph Mayen Akoon, the state police commissioner, told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday that they had arrested the suspects over the killings since Tuesday.

“The Wuncuei murder suspect surrendered to a police station on 16 November. And the suspect who also beat up a man to death was arrested by police. They are now under our custody in Bor. And the investigations are ongoing,” Mayen said.

The state police spokesperson, Major Majak Daniel Tuor, said investigations to establish reasons behind the killings have been ongoing since Tuesday.

“Up to now, we have not yet known the reasons for the killing. But we will let you know as our investigation finishes,” he said.
