The police in Awerial County of South Sudan's Lakes State have arrested and detained a murder suspect on Monday.
Mamuor Deng, who is the prime suspect in the murder of Thon Deng Kuol in Dor Payam of the Awerial County, was arrested in the Areir-nhial cattle camp on Monday morning.
The county police chief inspector Bol Tier told Radio Tamazuj that investigations into the murder would begin on Wednesday.
"The suspect identified as Mamuor Deng who killed Thon Deng Kuol in Arierhnial cattle camp of Dor Payam in Awerial county has been arrested and the police will make investigation on Wednesday when the deceased family members arrive tomorrow," he added.
Tier said that from initial reports, the two men are said to have had a misunderstanding that led to a fight.
"There were clashes in the cattle camp where this incident happened at 10 AM. We will confirm the cause of misunderstanding that led to the killing after the investigations," he assured.
The police inspector Tier urged the deceased's family members not to take matters into their own hands by revenging but instead allow the government to resolve the matter.
Awerial County authorities were not available for comment.
