35 people have been arrested by police authorities in Torit for allegedly dealing in illicit drugs and Chief Waragi, a local gin made in Uganda.
Police inspector at Torit municipality, Justine Keleopas, urged local residents to cooperate with the police by providing information to end illegal drug dealings in the state.
The Torit county Judge Dominic Anikpara said the arrest of Opium dealers was in line with the South Sudanese penal code of 2008.
Torit County Commissioner Fermo Peter Isara commended the police for arresting illegal drug dealers.
A security committee in the area has recently burned sacks of Opium and a carton of Chief Waragi.
