11 suspects were arrested for various crimes committed in South Sudan’s Torit State during the Christmas holiday, police said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, the state police spokesperson, Major Justin Kileopus Takuru said 24-year-old Regina Attari, who allegedly killed her friend, was among those arrested.
“An incident happened in Lopit West [County] where a woman [only] identified as Ifuho, 27, went to a friend called Regina Attari to ask for a barrel of distilled alcohol. They later started quarreling and Attari hit her friend with a stick, she fell and died,” he explained.
He said police authorities are investigating the killing and the suspect will be arraigned in court.
The police officer pointed out that several other suspects are still under investigations for committing crimes during the Christmas period. “Patrol teams arrested several others and are investigating suspects for accidents committed during the Christmas celebrations,” he said.
Takuru said police are working hard to bring perpetrators to justice.
