Prisoners in Tambura State have complained about the long delay in dispensation of justice and blamed it on the judicial system.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj inside the Tambura prison on Thursday, the complaining prisoners urged the government to support the legal system to work faster and more efficiently.

The prisoners called for an effective judicial system, which is capable of enforcing rights in a timely and proportionate manner.

They pointed out that many women inmates are kept in the prison along with juveniles.

A jail police officer said he stayed for more than a year without seeing a judge, and urged the judiciary to fast-track hearing cases.
