A group of youth in the Greater Pibor Administrative Area has rejected the appointment of Mr. Ojulu Ochalla as the area’s county commissioner.
About two weeks ago, GPAA Chief Administrator Lokali Amae replaced Pochalla South Commissioner Petrer Ogalla Ochudho with Ojulu Ochalla.
But the Pochalla Youth Union turned away from the administrative changes claiming they were not consulted prior to the replacement.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Openyi Ati Opuri , head of the Union said the chief administrator acted unilaterally without their voice.
“We, on the ground here are not aware when they discussed about changing the commissioner. This can create a problem. The chief administrator said the former commissioner was not giving him reports when Murle youth have been the ones killing us every day,” Openyi said.
Okenyi accused the area chief of purportedly creating tensions among the people in the area.
He added that the youth there will not liaise with the new commissioner should the changes remain.
Responding to the concerns, the area Chief, Lokali Amae said he made the appointment due to a lack of cooperation from the previous commissioner.
Amae claimed the former official also failed to provide briefings over rising insecurity in the area.
“I replaced the former commissioner because he did not want to report to me. When I ask for reports, he refuses. How come armed youths enter Pibor territories through his county without his knowledge?
He added that the changes were conducted after prior consultation with some members of the community.
“This new commissioner I brought is them (Anyuaks) who recommended I did not know him before,” he said.
