Pneumonia, Khala Azar outbreaks in Unity state

Cases of pneumonia and Khala Azar have been identified in Koch County in Unity State amid heavy rains and flooding, according to an announcement by the state Minister of Information on Monday.

Minister Abraham Dak said that the state’s council of ministers met to discuss the situation in the state regarding the outbreak of the two diseases. The report of the state minister of health mentioned the course of the spread of the two diseases in Koch County, with the minister attributing the reason to the heavy rains which fell during this season which resulted in high humidity and in the appearance of pneumonia cases.

In addition to that, the minister asserted that the number of Khala Azar cases has reached to an estimated 236 cases, and that his government is keen to rid the state of it in collaboration with the national Ministry of Health.
