Monylang Manyiel, Commissioner of Paring County in Unity State, says that there are ongoing efforts by the state governor to resume cross-border trade between Pariang County and neighboring West Kordofan.

The initiative involves the chamber of commerce and its counterpart in Khartoum.

Monylang told Radio Tamazuj that there are ongoing arrangements by the state government to re-open roads and markets in the common border area with Sudan within two months.

“We in Pariang County are making arrangements through the state government and security committee in order to open the border between us and Sudan through Heglig exit gate.”

“The concerned committee will make sure the process is completed within a period of two months,” he noted.

Pariang County is under control of the SPLM/A-Juba faction, bordered to the south by SPLM/A-IO territory, to the north by SPLM/A-North, and to the west by territory controlled by the Sudanese government.
