Plans for conference between Dinka Ngok and Misseriya tribes

Bulabek Deng Kuol, paramount chief of the Ngok Dinka in the contested area of Abyei between Sudan and South Sudan says they are preparing to organize a peace and reconciliation conference between the Misseriya and Ngok Dinka in the area.

The peace between the two feuding tribes reportedly will be facilitated by Concordis organization.

This comes after the Ngok Dinka leader in Khartoum Zachariah Atem called for a peace and reconciliation conference between the two tribes in the area.

Bulabek pointed out that separate meetings among Dinka Ngok people have already started and that they would end on Tuesday evening. The tribal leader confirmed his tribe’s readiness to sit with the Misseriya tribe if there is mutual respect between the two tribes.

However, Bulabek said resolutions of that meeting should be implemented. Previously, Ngok Dinka leaders set as a precondition for reconciliation talks with the Misseriya that the perpetrators of the killing of Paramount Chief Kuol Deng be brought to justice.

Meanwhile, Nyankor Dau, a member of the Padang Women’s Association, told Radio Tamazuj that they are ready for social peace with the Misseriya women especially the Ajaira.
