Rehabilitation work on a section of the Pibor Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC), the main referral facility in the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) has been ongoing since last week.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Dr. Abdelrobu Mohamed, the GPAA health ministry director-general, said: “Currently, the Pibor PHCC is being renovated. The renovation is done by a local organization called Live Well.
We have also received a donation of theatre equipment. As soon as the renovation finishes, we will have a fully operational centre for surgeries in Pibor for the first time.”

The health official pointed out that the centre will be operational by this week.

For his part, Lokali Amae, the GPAA chief administrator, said they will work with their partners to ensure that services are provided to the locals.

He admitted access to basic health services has been lacking since the GPAA inception amidst recurring floods and inter-communal violence and called for an investment in the area’s health sector.
