South Sudan’s Committee for National Healing, Peace and Reconciliation (CNHPR) is currently hosting a four-week training in Yei on how to use dialogue to build peace and foster reconciliation.
The training is called “A Step Together: Shared Journeys of Listening and Dialogue.” It involves 76 participants training to become ‘peace mobilizers’ and to share their message and skills with others.
A press statement by the reconciliation committee explains, “The training includes sessions to address the core causes of the conflict by exploring issues of the past through dialogue.”
CNHPR is headed by Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul and its Secretary General is Reverend Bernard Suwa. The ongoing training is supported by the South African Institute for Justice and Reconciliation.
CNHPR is encouraging the participation of women. “We must have as many women as possible within our process. They are in the frontline of our suffering, and therefore should be at the frontline in reconciliation,” said Rev. Suwa.
