SPLA spokesman Col. Philip Aguer has accused SPLM/A-In Opposition forces of attacking their positions in Leer County in Unity State on Monday morning.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Aguer stated that the rebels had shelled Leer area with mortars from 6:00 until 9:00 am, claiming the SPLA forces managed to repulse the attackers.

However, the spokesman did not give further details about losses from the two sides. Radio Tamazuj could not reach rebel commanders to comment on the matter.

“I don’t have any report about the situation today, but yesterday there was an attack with mortars by Riek Machar’s forces on Leer town, I don’t have any report about today, I don’t have any details,” he said yesterday.
