A high-level government delegation headed by the national minster of petroleum visited South Sudan’s Unity State to inspect oil fields abandoned at the start of civil war in December 2013, a local official said.
Lam Tungwar, Minister of Information in the proposed Northern Liech State, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that the Petroleum Minister Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth accompanied by top government officials visited oil fields in the state. He pointed out that the visiting delegation was received by Governor Joseph Monytuil.
The local official revealed that the visit aims at assessing the site to resume oil production as soon as possible.
Separately, the National Ministry of Petroleum said in a statement that the delegation headed by Minister Ezekiel Lol visited oil fields in Northern Liech and Ruweng states. The ministry pointed out that the security situation is calm in the area and that oil fields will resume production soon.
