One person was killed and two others critically wounded in a motorcycle along Tombura road at Atla Bara residential area in Juba town in South Sudan’s Central Equatorial state.

The accident reportedly involved one of the bike taxis known locally as ‘boda boda’ and occurred when a trailer collided with a motorcyclist carrying three passengers, according to the traffic police officer at the scene.

Speaking to journalists yesterday, the traffic police director in Central Equatorial state, Col. Kun John attributed the terrible accident to over-speeding and reckless driving.

The official noted he immediately rushed to where the accident had taken place and found one person died instantly.

“The other two people have been seriously injured —I  also learned that the wounded lady is the sister of the diseased,” he explained.

The directorate of traffic police will take tough measures to reduce motorcycle accidents in the town, he emphasized: “We used to tell our people that motorcycles in the town are very dangerous.”
