Peacebuilding workshop concludes in Renk

A peacebuilding workshop aimed at enhancing peaceful coexistence, social cohesion, and promoting national identity in Upper Nile State’s Renk County concluded on Tuesday.

A peacebuilding workshop aimed at enhancing peaceful coexistence, social cohesion, and promoting national identity in Upper Nile State's Renk County concluded on Tuesday.

The workshop organized by the UNMISS Civil Affairs division in Upper Nile State in cooperation with the Ebony Women Development Organization in Renk County brought together 45 participants including traditional leaders, youth, and women.

Addressing the closing ceremony of the workshop, the acting county commissioner of Renk Ayang Adop, said that the government will work with recommendations from the workshop to enhance peaceful coexistence. 

For his part, Charles Bum, a representative from the UNMISS Civil Affairs division pointed out that the workshop is part of an initiative to build trust and peace among communities.

Malou Ayuel, a participant at the workshop said they discussed the issue of identity and promotion of unity.

"We will share what we have learned from the workshop with those who could not participate in this important workshop," he added.

Yasmin Deng, also a participant said her main takeaway is the need to promote unity among the people of South Sudan.
