Residents held a workshop on peace-building and conflict resolution yesterday in Tong North County in South Sudan’s Warrap State.

The workshop was organized by Tonj North authorities and the native administration and was attended by locals of both the Dinka and Nuer tribes.

Rose Cinderella, a women’s representative at the workshop, said women in Tong North are working toward building peace by fostering coexistence in their homes and by disseminating peace messages in their communities.

Cinderella expressed her discontent at those who describe the South Sudan’s civil war as between the Nuer and Dinka, and said the participants in the workshop included Dinka and Nuer.

She emphasized the peaceful coexistence within the communities in the county and with neighboring states of South Sudan.

Tonj North County Commissioner Marko Wuoc said Tonj North has not experienced tribal conflict and said that Warrap is a peace loving state that works for nation-building.
