A one-day peace conference to impart conflict mitigation and peacebuilding skills to community leaders from six payams of Mundri East County of Western Equatoria State concluded on Thursday.

The workshop was conducted by the Mundri Relief Development Association (MRDA) a community-based organization.

“We just came with our objective to enhance the capacity of the community leaders in conflict mitigation and peacebuilding. This means that the cup is already having something in and we are only topping. The other objective is to enable them, to understand the causes of conflict," MRDA program assistant Chance Voice told Radio Tamazuj.

The county commissioner Margaret Fozia emphasized the importance of preaching peace and forgiveness to communities.

“This is a big program and I applaud them for that because the workshop focused on forgiveness as the road to peace. If people forgive each other the road to peace will open and this is true. If you keep something in your heart and you don’t free from your heart truly you will not have peace with yourself and someone else," the commissioner said.

Michael Robert, a youth representative at the workshop said, "I am happy to be part of the workshop because as youth we need the training about peace."
