A two-day peace initiative organized as an outcome of the recent Governors’ Forum in Juba is set to launch on Tuesday in Juba, South Sudan’s national capital.

Each of the 64 tribes in the country will send 10 representatives to participate in the conference, reported Radio Miraya. It will be chaired by Central Equatoria Governor Clement Wani Konga.

Central Equatoria State Information Minister Samuel Soba said the conference will be held under the theme of “peace now for South Sudan tribes to unite against war.”

He added, “If you don’t plant peace at grass root if you don’t build peace and plant peace at the hearts of the people then you cannot achieve peace wherever it’s being discussed.”

Soba emphasized “the concept of homegrown peace”, building consensus for peace locally from the people, “from the desires and the hearts of the people.”
