Leaders of the feuding Awlad Omran and Al-Zeyoud clans of the Arab Misseriya tribe in Sudan’s West Kordofan state held a peace and reconciliation conference in Ad Daein town in East Darfur on Thursday, a local chief said.

Mahmoud Musa Madibo, the nazir (paramount chief) of the Misseriya tribe, told Radio Tamazuj that all delegates and guarantors from the two states had arrived in the venue of the peace conference.

He confirmed that the conference kicked off yesterday. However, he didn’t disclose the closing date of the peace meeting.

Several Misseriya leaders told Radio Tamazuj earlier that the peace conference will start by implementing resolutions adopted in a previous En Nahud conference.

The tribal leaders also reaffirmed their readiness to reach a final agreement in order to bring an end to the running feud between the two Misseriya clans.
