Peace conference among Dinka Bor, Murle tribes to begin in Pibor

A peace conference between feuding communities from neighbouring states of Jonglei and Boma is scheduled to kick off in Pibor area on Thursday, a local offical said.

A peace conference between feuding communities from neighbouring states of Jonglei and Boma is scheduled to kick off in Pibor area on Thursday, a local offical said.

Jongeli State’s Peace Adivor Deng Aguer confirmed to Radio Tamazuj today that the two states agreed to hold the peace meeting on Thursday.

“The conference will kick off on Thursday, the schedule was not changed, we agreed that people will go to attend the conference on 1 December,”said Aguer.

He pointed out that the peace conference will be organized by the two governments in collaboration with the UN Mission in South Sudan and ZOA organzation, saying they will discuss matters pertaining to peaceful co-existence between the two states.

Aguer added that the conference will be attended by poltical leaders , chiefs, youth and womnen in an attempt to bring peace and reconciliation between the two feuding communities.
