Youths from South Sudan’s Warrap state kicked off a peace football tournament in Kwajok town on Wednesday, according to the head of the local football union.
Football official Lino Majok Achier told Radio Tamazuj that the tournament brings youths together from six counties of Warrap state in order to consolidate social peace among local communities.
The six counties of Warrap state are Gogrial East, Gogrial West, Tonj North, Tonj South, Tonj East and Twic.
He said the tournament is being funded by the State Ministry of Youth and Sports in collaboration with Vision International.
Lino pointed out that the opening tournament started on Wednesday between Tonj North and Gogrial West teams in which the Tonj North team won.
The event is expected to conclude on 27 October.
