Dhieu Mathok Diing, Secretary General of the SPLM-IO faction under the leadership of the country’s First Vice President, Taban Deng Gai, underscored that the 2015 peace agreement has positives results and made significant progress.

“I can say the implementation of the peace agreement is progressing well. Provisions of the agreement are being implemented, especially the formation of institutions, and over 90% of it has been implemented except the section of general elections,” he said.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj in an interview on Thursday, Dhieu said, “with respect to the transitional security arrangement, its implementation is also progressing well.”

However, he said real progress in cantonment sites is still lacking due to financial constraints in the country.” Now the problem is the cantonment sites, but now there are cantonment sites that have succeeded in some states like Unity state,” he said.

Dhieu, who is now a minister for energy in the unity government, said restructuring of army and institutional reforms are also ongoing. “With respect to the humanitarian sector and resettlement of people, the relevant ministry and its agencies are working on the issue, so I can say there is progress,” he said.

“I want to say even Chapter Five about accountability now the law is at the ministry of justice. There are proposals from the African Union and the ministry has received the proposals, so IGAD will take it so that people can pass it,” he said.
