The former South Sudanese army chief's daughter has been reported missing after a fire broke out at Moi Girls School in Nairobi, Kenya over the weekend.

At least eight girls have been reported killed and 10 others taken to hospital after a dormitory fire in Nairobi on Saturday.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established but Keyan authorities said an investigation team had been sent to the school to unravel what really happened.

General Paul Malang’s family confirmed to Radio Tamazuj yesterday that their daughter Alakiir Paul Malong was still missing after the Moi Girls School tragedy and that another younger daughter sustained minor injuries after the dormitory fire.

Lucy Ayak, the wife of General Paul Malong Awan, said the family is still waiting for a DNA test for the eight dead bodies to confirm whether Alakiir is among them or not.

The ousted army chief Paul Malong is not allowed to go anywhere outside Juba for security reasons, according to government officials allied to President Salva Kiir.
