General Paul Malong Awan, chief of general staff of the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA), is in a hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, after he fell unconscious and collapsed on Sunday.
The cause of what led to an alarming health concern remains unclear. No statement has been released to the public by either his family or the general command of the SPLA. The general was flown out of the country on Monday unconscious. Military sources are saying he is in Kenya waiting for a further transfer to a third country with improved and advance medical capabilities for more attention.
Rumours were swirling about his condition but a family source in contact with accompanying family told Radiotamazuj Tuesday Malong was conscious and spoke to president Kiir and family members
