The Paris Declaration Force represented by the National Umma Party (NUP) and the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF) presented a position paper on a comprehensive peace and democratic transformation to the African Union High-level Implementation Panel (AUHIP) at a meeting in Addis Ababa Sunday evening. The terms of the position paper were not immediately available.
The AU mediation team invited the opposition leaders for a consultative meeting over the weekend to discuss the way forward after the Sudanese government rejected the proposal of merging peace negotiations with a national dialogue.
A source said the AU Peace and Security Council intend to hear from the Paris Declaration Force about the ongoing peace efforts following their meeting with Thabo Mbeki.
Meanwhile, an alliance of Sudanese opposition parties in Khartoum reiterated their support to the Sudan Revolutionary Front (SRF).
Multiple sources indicated the opposition leaders agreed to collaborate with all components of the armed and political opposition to achieve rule of law in Sudan.
The opposition alliance emphasized the need for political rallies and symposiums to use peaceful means to overthrow the ruling National Congress Party.
