Many parents in Babanusa town in Sudan’s West Kordofan who are preparing for a new school year complained that school supply prices have increased at the market.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, several parents said they find it difficult to cope with back to school buys as schools reopens due to high prices.

“The price of high school uniforms cost 350 SDG, the price of shoes reached 250 SDG, whereas the school bag is being sold at 300 SDG,”  a father of three children explained.

For his part, a trader said they are complaining due to declining purchase power of the population.

He pointed out that many traders incurred losses as a result of the rising prices of goods in the area.
