Four candidates are expected to contest for the post of paramount chief in an election in Nasir County in Upper Nile State today, according to a rebel official in the area.
The four candidates are William Deng Rout, Chuol Koryom, Tour Bol Would and Thuok Chual. The election was scheduled to start at 8:00 a.m. at Mandeng Freedum Stadium.
Commissioner of Nasir County Luk Mok Kueth said only elected traditional leaders are eligible to vote for the paramount chief. “Only executive chiefs and their deputies and sub chiefs will participate during the voting. Headmen are not allowed to vote,” he said.
The candidates are from Jikmier and Kotkea Payams of Nasir County.
