The Secretary-General of the ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), Pagan Amum, says that he and the exiled ‘Group of Ten’ that he represents will not return to Juba yet because they have been threatened by the government and by Salva Kiir personally.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj today, Pagan stated that they will return when the security situation improves in South Sudan’s capital. “Until now there are risks and even threats on our lives by the government and President Salva Kiir himself and his cohorts,” he said.

Pagan further said his group has been receiving threats since he signed the compromise peace agreement in Addis Ababa. He added that they were accused of betraying the country.

“We are being accused of having sold out the country,” he said. “We have been accused of being agents of the West and the international community and so forth. So there are threats in Juba city and other government-held areas,” he added.

Pagan Amum confirmed that the SPLM-G10 also known as SPLM ‘Former Detainees’ will come to Juba when the security situation changes and Salva Kiir’s government accepts peace.
