Pagan Amum’s ex-office manager joins government in Juba

Chol Lam, former office manager of the former Secretary General of the ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) and leader of the SPLM Former Detainees (SPLM-FDs) Pagan Amum, has joined South Sudan government led by President Salva Kiir.

Chol Lam has been living in exile since the outbreak of South Sudan’s civil war in December 2013.

Speaking to reporters at Juba International Airport upon his arrival yesterday, Chol said that he returned back home in response to the call by First Vice President Taban Dang Gai to join the peace process.

“I decided to return because I have been invited by the First Vice President, I have returned to talk about unity and peace in the country, “said Chol.

The former opposition member called upon the people of South Sudan to embrace peace and unity.”Nobody had promised me any position, I returned to talk about peace, and I want to encourage all the people of South Sudan to accept dialogue,” he said.
