Officials in Awerial County of Lakes State say more the 68 heads of cattle were stolen in Ameth-juech cattle camps in Dor by suspected criminals from neighboring Terekeka of Central Equatoria state.

The incident occurred yesterday at Ameth-juech cattle camps in Dor and Butagok Payam of Awerial County.

In an interview with Radio Tamazuj, the police chief inspector of Awerial County Bol Tier said a police force has been sent after the criminals.

"I have already sent a police force to follow the raiders who are heading the stolen cattle to Terekeka," he said. "It is not clear whether a person was wounded or killed there."

Tier urged the neighboring cattle-keeping communities to desist from cattle raiding saying it is a source of insecurity and violence.

"We are one people in the country, there is no need to raid cattle from each other," Tier added.
