More than 5,000 South Sudanese refugee children at Alagaya refugee camp in Sudan’s White Nile state are not going to school due to lack of enough schools in the camp, several teachers and camp leaders said.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday, a traditional leader at the camp said the majority of school-age children are not receiving an education because the available schools cannot accommodate them all.
Meanwhile, several teachers said there are three schools only, two fully constructed but without doors and windows, while the third school is still under construction.
They called on humanitarian agencies to come and address the issue.
